FAQ

This depends on what you are looking for. Want the deepest snow? August will be your best bet. The nicest weather? September has sunny spring skiing. The best time for kids activities? The July school holidays are jam packed with events for kids. Part of our service is to find out exactly what you’re looking for in a snow holiday and find the option that works for you.

The list can be long, but as a best first step make sure you have booked your accommodation, your resort entry, ski passes and ski school (if you intend to ski) and some transportation. We can help book all of these, as well as snow chain hire, ski rental, accommodation transfer and more.

The snow season is usually broken into three different seasons, based on the expected levels of fresh snow. Low season is in Early June and Late September, and offers the best value pricing on a budget. Mid season occurs in late June and Early September and offers a bit more assurance of good snow. High season is when the snow is at its best so comes at a premium price, expect this for most of July and August.

We don’t have a crystal ball unfortunately, but you can make some educated guesses based on the time of season. High season is when most snow historically falls, but you can still see fresh snow in Mid and Low seasons too. For sunnier days with warmer temperatures, consider coming during spring where the prices are great too.

To enter a Victorian Alpine Resort you need to pay a daily Resort Entry fee. This is usually around $50 per day and covers the cost of the services the resort provides, like snow clearing, ski patrol, managing the sewage system and keeping the village clean.

If you plan to drive then yes you do, even for 4WD vehicles. This is not just a safety element (conditions can change a lot driving between Mount Beauty and Falls Creek) but it’s a legal requirement too where the fines are not cheap. We can book chain hire for you to pick up in Mount Beauty where you will receive a lesson on how to fit them. Remember, only fit chains if the resort tells you too as fitting chains unnecessarily can damage both your vehicle and the road.

This is a personal one based on your own situation. You might want to be fully self-contained, close to restaurants, not far to walk from parking or close by to the main ski lifts. All of these items could mean different options! Budget weighs heavily into where to stay and Alpine Accommodation and Travel has a great range of options to find the right mix of luxury and value for your stay. We know every property inside and out so you can be sure we will find the best place to suit your situation perfectly.
